Environment

Because the game takes place in the apocalypse, the environment can also be considered its own entity. A danger. Gamemasters should consider leveraging environment to its full effect. Sometimes the environment itself can cause physical damage in the form of loss of Life Points for extreme cases (hypothermia perhaps) or it can simply lower PC Morale.

Seasonal Effects

  • Winter - snow, freezing temperatures, wind gusts, rain, fog, and ice can force players to find shelter, scavenge for cold weather equipment, build fires, etc.
  • Spring - thawing snow and cold temperatures can cause players to become wet, trudge through mud, etc.
  • Summer - heat and rain can play an effect on how often players need to take shelter or drink water.
  • Autumn - rain, snow, wind, and other effects can also play a role for players here.

Day and Night Effects

Daylight and Nighttime can play a role on the difficulty of certain tasks. At night visibility is reduced, but sneaking is easier. Using light to scavenge by may be required, but it may also increase the risk that players will be spotted by random encounters.
