Camping

Player characters have the option of camping in order to rest and recuperate. The longer they camp, the better they recover. There are drawbacks, however. The longer a party camps, the greater their chances of a random encounter.

PCs can gain 1 Life Point for every two hours they rest while adventuring in the wilderness, but they also suffer a 10% chance for a random encounter. This means that there should be a 100% chance of a random encounter with either a wild animal or some other adversary for every 20 hours spent idle. This is because wild animals are also looking for sustenance, and other humans are frequently doing their own scouting and hunting.

Camping can also be detrimental to unprepared PCs, depending on environmental conditions. Gamemasters should take into account player gear and hiding skills to adjust environmental effects and chance of discovery as needed.
